ABOUT: Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony that gets its signature coloring from impurities of iron dioxide. The color of carnelian can vary largely, from pale oranges to intense and almost-black colorations. Carnelian looks very similar to Sard which is a typically darker and harder stone; but they are used interchangeably due to not having an official distinction. Carnelian was used vastly throughout history in all types of jewelry, most likely because of its empowering, inspiring and courage-bringing energy.
