Unakite gets its name from the region in which it was discovered, the Unaka Mountains in North Carolina, USA. Unakite is commonly used in building and architecture due to its hardness and beauty. One of the most popular buildings that features unakite in its structure would be the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.
